While Monday is just an ordinary day, one of seven just like it, I can’t help but feel that it’s a bit more significant than other days. Monday is the beginning of the week, when you have a clean slate. It’s an opportunity to set the tone for the week. Monday is the day that you say, This is going to be a great week or a productive week or a relaxing week or whatever kind of week I want it to be. That doesn’t happen on Wednesday (at least not for me).

It feels important to get Monday right — starting with Monday morning — so I’m wondering about how you start your Monday. What are the tiny rituals, the little routines, the small things that you do to make your day and your week a good one?

Having a Monday morning ritual feels especially important for me since I’ve been working from home quite a bit lately. This is great and I love the convenience of it (not to mention having my dog Charlie curled up next to me all day), but it also means that easing into my work day is even more difficult.

There’s no commute to separate home from work, no need to get all dressed up for the office, and I’m not too proud to admit that there are many days when I go straight from my bed to my desk without even getting out of my pajamas.

Sometimes, I think this is okay. Sometimes that extra time in bed is worth it, but I feel like it’s not really the best way to start the day — and it’s definitely not the best way to start the week.

That’s why I need your help — to master my Monday morning so I can master my week. What’s the first thing you do on Monday morning? Do you make tea and relish it in a special place? Do you turn on the radio and get the good vibes flowing? Do you find a quiet corner and meditate?
