A Powerhouse Nutritional Add-In: Homemade Spinach Powder
If you want to add a little more nutrition to your food, consider spinach. Dried spinach, that is. Want to see how to make your own at home?
Tiffany (from the aptly named Tiffany's Trim Treats) likes using spinach powder in her baked goods and regular day-to-day cooking. She puts it in brownies, cookies, and even uses it as a chicken crust! It's virtually tasteless, but the nutritional value is still there. However, it's almost impossible to find unless you live in a major metropolitan area, so she decided to make her own.
It's a simple method of dehydrating, blending and then popping it in a spice or coffee grinder to create an ultra fine powder. If you don't own a dehydrator you can always use your oven overnight, set at its lowest temperature. Add it to smoothies or your next bowl of soup.
