Jennifer Garner hung out with Ina Garten this week, and she knows we’re all jealous.

“I understand if this brings up big feelings for you, but I spent the morning with @inagarten,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of herself, beaming, with her arm around the shoulders of the Barefoot Contessa.

She touched Ina Garten! I would be screaming. Garner looks like she might be squealing internally, too.

If I met Ina, I would not be able to stop talking about it. Fortunately, neither can Jennifer Garner, because she kindly shared all the details of her visit to Ina’s Hamptons home, including her beautiful barn kitchen with the 18-foot countertops, and coffee in her exquisite gardens. And best of all, she even got to take a look at Ina’s new cookbook.

“In her barn kitchen, in her garden, having coffee … yes, it’s true,” she wrote. “I even got a sneak peek of the new Barefoot Contessa cookbook — #CookLikeAPro — it’s fabulous.”

Cook Like a Pro won’t be out until October, but Jennifer Garner got a sneak peek, and she says it’s wonderful. Ina Garten’s cookbooks are flawless, so we knew it would be fabulous, but it’s always exciting to have confirmation.

“Thank you for the perfect morning, Ina, you are beloved for a reason,” Jennifer Garner wrote. “I can’t wait to continue the conversation.”

She signed it with a heart and added the hashtags, #ShesEverythingWeWantHerToBe and #LuckyMe.

Ina loves Jennifer Garner just as much. She posted the same photo to her own Instagram, writing, “Such a fun morning with @Jennifer.Garner! Nothing more soul satisfying for me than to spend time with a smart, compassionate woman I admire.”

Ina and Jennifer Garner are quickly becoming one of my favorite food-world friendships. Last year Jennifer Garner started copying Ina by filming a “pretend cooking show” in her own kitchen. She even used Ina’s recipes. At the time, we wondered what Ina thought of it. Was she flattered? Was she annoyed? But Ina loved it. She said Garner is wonderful and her videos are charming, which they definitely are.

And it turns out Garner and the Barefoot Contessa have been friends for several years. Ina went to Jennifer Garner’s birthday party, and taught her how to make grilled swordfish with tomato-caper sauce on an episode of Barefoot Contessa.

I wonder what they were talking about over coffee in Ina’s barn kitchen. Garner’s already been a guest on Ina’s show; could Ina make a cameo on the Pretend Cooking Show? Now that would be charming.
