Feel the Churn: The Best Workout I’ve Ever Seen Involves Butter (Made By You)
I’ve been sticking to my exercise routine this winter much better than in the past. (Look! It’s February — my resolution lasted out January!) But as fun as lifting weights can be (varying feelings on that, to be sure), I just saw a workout that looks way, way more like a party. Best part? You get to eat back all your burned calories with butter you made yourself… while working out.
No, this isn’t a class to take at your local Jazzercise or CrossFit. This is what Food Republic called a “traveling art project of sorts,” a class designed by Los Angeles duo Pop Soda (Jimmy Fusil and Michael Patrick Wait). They call it Butter Aerobics, bringing a uniquely California spin to the good old aerobics class with 80s workout music and jars of cream that are churned into butter through good old-fashioned elbow grease.
You dance, you shake, you make butter. Afterwards everyone celebrates with their freshly-made butter slathered on toast or pancakes.
That sounds pretty great to me! Beats riding an exercise bike, anyway.
Check and see if these guys will be in your area! They’ve done classes in Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and New York City, but they’re most frequently found in Southern California.
